About the Film
This 10-minute documentary follows a confrontational and heart wrenching story about Domestic Violence. Australian woman, “Jane. D”, is a survivor. Strong, caring, and loving, she was a victim of violence, manipulation, and oppression. After surviving an abusive relationship and undergoing a traumatic court case against her ex-partner, she lost custody of her daughters. They say “a mother’s love is the deepest connection there is,” and they’re right. Jane didn’t stop fighting. After a lengthy time apart, and moving to follow her kids, Jane managed to acquire full custody. They escaped, but at what cost? A traumatising experience for this woman and her children, we delve into where the cycle seems to always start: the upbringing. This film reflects on the immense issue of Domestic Violence in Australia, how unbelievably common it is, and how lasting these encounters have on women and children.
