ABOUT THE SHOW
To create something as a child, you pour your heart and soul into a little piece of paper and colour. Everything you know becomes a part of you. But is everything too much? As a child, Theo wondered about bedtime, his toys, and whether or not he could sneak an extra biccie in after dessert. He had no worry about the birds, the numbers, or the broken hearts.
Now, as a teenager, he faces what it means for ‘everything to become a part of you’. As his friends argue about love, he wonders about why he has to choose sides. As his parents put all of their hopes and dreams onto him, Theo wonders when he can choose for himself. When his friends all see concerts, drink expensive bubble tea and coffee, and eat never-ending amounts of food, Theo wonders when he’ll get to do the same.
In a desperate attempt to stay himself, Theo clings to his childhood friend, a puppet made from love and good memories. But he doesn’t see it as it grows with his worry, embodies his stress and manifests his pressures into a physical form, a constant reminder of the expectations laid upon him. He can’t escape the world around him. But he can build a railing to help him stand. And with the help of those he trusts? He might just be able to stand without the railing at all.
